July 19: Precruise
Wednesday, July 19, 2000: Today was filled with more setting up and more testing. Maurice Tivey, from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, arrived this morning and began setting up his equipment. Everybody moved into their assigned "staterooms", since we will all be sleeping on the ship tonight, ready for an early start in the morning. The crew ran a "wet-dive" with the ROV with the ship still docked. Everybody breathed a sigh of relief as the testing went without a glitch. The ROV and new coring sled are ready for their first mission! The sun broke out of the familiar fog around noontime perhaps an omen for a successful cruise starting tomorrow!
