2008 EARTH Workshop
There is only one EARTH workshop scheduled for 2008; we are planning on a Monterey workshop in 2009 to coincide with the annual meeting of the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA).
The 2008 EARTH workshop is cosponsored by MBARI,
the Center for Microbial Oceanography: Research and Educaton (C-MORE),
and NASA Astrobiology Science and Technology for Exploring Planets (ASTEP).
EARTH 2008
Lodging is at the Hilton Garden Inn (Corvallis, Oregon)
All events will take place at the LaSells Stewart Center unless otherwise indicated
This workshop was made possible by the logistical support provided by Amy Vandehey of OSU/CIOSS

Teachers involved in this workshop will:
- Learn about cutting edge marine science and technology, ocean
observatories and the data that they collect
- Explore current scientific
studies that use oceanographic data and how that data has changed our
way of thinking about the oceans
- Develop new curriculum that uses real science and near-real-time data
to teach science content and process and addresses their needs
and the needs of their students
- Be part of a program that integrates the use of
near-real-time data and real science into classrooms at a national level
- Experience a rich opportunity for professional collaboration
and receive classroom resources, and a modest stipend ($100/day). We ask that the participants arrange their own travel, reasonable costs will be reimbursed.
