Home Projects Information Roadmap

In 1997 MBARI expanded hydrographic observations into the California Current. Quarterly cruises were scheduled in 1997-2002 to survey the areas offshore of Monterey Bay (map). This project was a collaborative effort between Francisco Chavez (P.I.), Curt Collins (NPS), Baldo Marinovic (UCSC), Ken Johnson, J. Tim Pennington, Gernot Friederich, and the Biological Ocean Group.

The data presented here reflects preliminary results from Francisco Chavez. The sample analysis covers productivity, nutrients, and physical parameters. Methods and Materials for the cruises are similar to those of the Monterey Bay Time Series cruises aboard the R/V Point Lobos.

For use in publication, authors must obtain written permission from Francisco Chavez. You must acknowledge MBARI as the data source in those publications and provide reprints to the MBARI library.

Distance by Time Contours
Distance is measured in kilometers from Moss Landing, CA. The black diamond markers along the bottom axis represent the stations C1, H3, 67-50, 67-55, 67-60, 67-65, 67-70, 67-75, 67-80, 67-85, 67-90, 67-95, 67-100. The data have been gridded in SURFER using kriging interpolation.

Distance by Depth Contours
Distance is measured in kilometers from Moss Landing, CA. The light green dots on the graphs represent data points. These data are from shipboard CTD observations. The data have been grid and plotted using MatLab, interpolated by griddata, and passed through a median filter. Levels are not relative for the cruises, therefore comparison between cruises cannot be made by contour colors. Last updated 07/12/2006
