Charles is a postdoctoral fellow that will be involved in field and laboratory studies to evaluate the effects of ocean acidification and hypoxia on the biology of red abalone, including fertilization, larval development, juvenile survival and growth, and population modeling. Charles earned his PhD in Marine Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and came to MBARI from Hopkins Marine Station. Charles reports to senior scientist Jim Barry.
Research programs at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) encompass the entire ocean, from the surface waters to the deep seafloor, and from the coastal zone to the open sea. The need to understand the ocean in all its complexity and variability drives MBARI's research and development efforts.
