MBARI Oral History
In an effort ot preserve the stories behind MBARI's founding, development, and ongoing work, the institute has begun conducting a series of interviews with some of the founders and leaders of the institute. Over time we hope to continue to add interviews from a wide variety of individuals, knowing the sum total of their stories will help paint a more complete picture of the institute and its evolution over the years.
For each interview conducted, a written transcript was prepared as close to verbatim as possible. Therefore the text will read like a casual conversation, not a formal research document. Some "ums" or false starts have been omitted, but for the most part the text is true to the spoken word. A few short audio clips are also included from each interview.
