Upwelling during MUSE

Figure 1. Surface temperature (left) and dissolvable iron (right) from two surveys form the R/V New Horizon during the MUSE experiment. During the first survey (top) upwelling was suppressed so the temperature was high and dissolvable iron was low. Upwelling favorable winds returned after the first survey and during the second survey (bottom) temperature had dropped and dissolved iron had increased dramatically in response to the environmental forcing.
