FIELD EXPERIENCE
|
Jan. 2001 to present:
|
Assisted on several research cruises
for the Dorado AUV
project and the Laser Raman Spectrometer instrumentation (DORISS)
/ Precision Underwater Positioner (PUP)
system in the Monterey Bay. AUV work involved assistance
in vehicle deployment and recovery during testing runs.
DORISS / PUP project work included pre-deployment network and
system tests as well as deployment operation reliability
tests. |
|
Feb. 1997- Jan. 2001: |
Chief
scientist on 16
ROV Ventana dives and Co-chief scientist on
more than 40 ROV dives in the Monterey Bay.
Dive missions involved deployment and recovery of
underwater seismometers including MBARI corehole
and MOISE experiment
instruments, rock
sampling with the MBARI ROV horizontal coring-sled,
and push-core sediment sampling within and outside of
benthic cold seep communities in Monterey Bay. |
| May
1999: |
Technical
research assistant on geophysical seismic and mapping
cruise aboard the
R/V Maurice Ewing (EW9905) to the Gorda Escarpment,
part of the Mendocino Fracture Zone, off northern California. Onboard
responsibilities included general seismic data
collection and record keeping, processing of raw
Hydrosweep (swath sonar) data using MB
System (4.6a), and the generation of detailed bathymetric
maps of the Gorda Escarpment and surveyed areas to the
south. |
| March
1998-April 1998:
|
Co-navigator
and horizontal drill-sled technician on Canadian
ROV ROPOS dive expedition to the Atlantis
II Fracture Zone in the Indian Ocean aboard the British
Geological Survey ship the
RRS James Clark Ross. Click to see Cruise
Science Report. |
| November
1997: |
Navigator and technical support for
sea trials outfitting and operating the Canadian ROV ROPOS
with the MBARI horizontal drill-sled in Patricia Bay, British
Columbia. |
